Meet Nicole Bradford

A Registered Nurse turned Doula offering support to mothers throughout the entire birth journey.

It’s your time to be empowered. Your journey into motherhood is the single most transformative moment in your life. And you should begin it the way you want to. Your birth, your way.

When I became pregnant for the first time, I was a bundle of emotion at the beginning of my journey into motherhood. I had been a general medicine nurse for half a decade at the time and I had seen. it. all. I decided that for myself, natural birth in a birth center was the way to go to prevent as much medical intervention as I could. I went into it totally blind. I took one childbirth class and off we went to birth our baby girl. I was blessed by an amazing midwife and nurse who coached me through FOUR hours of pushing and I ended up delivering the way I wanted - intervention free and minimal recovery after. Delivering my daughter was the most profound and transformative experience of my life. I stepped into motherhood, and I felt like I also stepped into my purpose in life. While I labored for those twelve grueling hours, I looked at my nurse - who was lending me all of her strength, her courage, and her support - and thought, I want to do her job. It was probably a coping technique, but I like to think it was fate and I interviewed for a position as a birth center doula right there and then in the tub in between contractions. And as soon as I went back to work after my maternity leave, I switched floors to Labor and Delivery / NICU + Postpartum at MUSC and on the side spent my time at the birth center, assisting in over 300 births and postpartum recoveries.

My birth, MY way, and finally, my purpose. Found.

ABOUT + MISSION

Here’s the deal though - yes, I got the outcome I wanted. BUT I realized my journey up to that point - to put it simply - could have been easier. Pregnancy is hard and birth is hard, no matter which way you slice it. But with the right tools and preparation, you CAN find ease in your journey into motherhood.

Enter Birth and the Bees - where it’s my mission to empower women with the knowledge, support, and tools they need to navigate their birth journey with confidence and peace. I’m here to ensure that every mother feels informed, cared for, and prepared so that her birth experience and transition afterward are as smooth and fulfilling as possible.

I WANT YOU TO KNOW:

You can trust your body and your instincts.

You can choose the path that’s right for you and your baby.

You can make those informed choices with confidence.

Most importantly - you deserve a birth that honors your wishes.
